About Us: The Sparks Behind the Brand

When the world shut down in 2020, we opened something new.

Designed With Sparks was born from a deep desire to leave the burnout of the 9-to-5 behind and create something real—something healthier, more meaningful, and built around our family. Like a lot of people during COVID, we took a hard look at how we were living, and realized: we wanted more. More time together. More flexibility. More purpose in the work we did.

Ryan has been welding and fabricating metal for over 20 years—starting in high school shop class and never looking back. What began as a trade became a craft, and now a business that supports not just our family, but others across Eastern Washington and beyond.

We added laser engraving a couple years ago to bring me (Ciara) into the business full-time. It gave us a new creative outlet—and a way to blend function with art. From leather patch hats to campsite signage and custom-cut fire rings, everything we build is hands-on, intentional, and original.

Unlike mass-produced gear, we meticulously design, test, and personally inspect every item that leaves our shop. If something doesn’t meet our standard, we rework it. If it doesn’t last, we fix it. We're small enough to care, and skilled enough to back it up.

What I love most about what we do isn’t just the sparks and steel—it’s the freedom to be creative, to work alongside my family, and to share products that tell a story. It’s watching our son play nearby while we pack orders or fire up the plasma cutter. It’s having a business that fits our life, not the other way around.
