Behind the Scenes: What It’s Like Running a Rural Fabrication Business
Running a fabrication business from rural Washington isn’t for the faint of heart—but we wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Most mornings start with coffee, chickens, and our 5-year-old and 7-year-old asking a million questions while we prep orders or set up the day’s welding jobs. We don’t have a huge shop crew or a sleek downtown studio—we have acreage, a plasma table, and a whole lot of determination.
The beauty of working rurally is also the challenge: we’ve had to get creative with tools, space, and time. Our fabrication jobs range from structural pieces to custom signs and parts, while our laser engraving side focuses on leather patch hats and gifts for businesses, clubs, and outdoorsy folks like us.
Every project is built by hand, usually with chickens underfoot, a kid nearby, and a family dynamic that mixes work and life in the best way. We don’t do mass production—we do precision, personalization, and products that last.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to blend grit, gear, and a family business—all from a home-based shop in the woods—this is it.
